Close by you may also enjoy Kinston Manor at Foxwood. The area offers spectacular views of its natural beauty. There are more than 25 waterfalls in Oconee County alone. Boating, fishing, whitewater rafting, hunting, hiking, horseback riding and nine golf courses are just a few of the recreational activities the area has to offer. It's county, state and national parks and recreation areas provide plenty of opportunities for every member of the family.
Spring highwaters bring the ultimate thrill of whitewater rafting, such as seen in the movie Deliverance, which was filmed on the Chattooga. Trips during the fall provide the spectacular display of foliage. The height of the fall leaf season is usually around mid October. Several outfitters near Long Creek, SC -- 13 miles north of Westminster -- are able to offer equipment, instruction, guided trips, clinics, lodging and even videotapes of your whitewater exprience. Discounts are usually available during the early spring and late fall.
