A great vacation choice is the beautiful Club St. Croix on the US Virgin Island of St. Croix. This condominium resort sits along a palm-fringed Caribbean beach on the island's north coast. Historic Christiansted and ferries to Buck Island National Park are 1.5 miles away. Located in a three-story beachfront building, the 54 air-conditioned condo units have balconies or patios with sea views. Spacious lawns, flowering gardens, and a secluded beach ensure families and couples enjoy peaceful vacations in a residential setting away from resort-hotel bustle but near stroller-friendly, pastel-colored downtown Christiansted. Studded with palm trees, and protected by a reef 300 yards offshore, a quarter-mile beach runs in front of the resort along the turquoise-and-blue Caribbean Sea. Divi Carina Bay Resort is another resort in the area you may enjoy.
St. Croix reflects its rich Danish past as well as English, French and Spanish influences. Christopher Columbus sighted this 82 acre paradise in 1493 and named it "Santa Cruz". But the Danish held this land for more than 250 years until 1917 when the United States purchased it. In Christiansted you will find charming small shops featuring clothing, jewelry, glass and art can give you full day shopping expeditions. Casual to casual elegance is the style on the island and in the shops. The famous Crucian bracelet is among the "must haves" for bringing a bit of St. Croix home with you, unless you prefer the emeralds, or gold or silver jewelry which abound in silversmith and goldsmith shops. Duty-free shopping always seems like a bargain on St. Croix. This is a great place for families and those who like to feel they have a home away from home.
