Lake Chelan is not your average lake. Resting at the foot of the rugged peaks of the North Cascades, this long finger of water points like a loadstone to a truly isolated parcel of America. Though the lake is 55 miles long, you can only drive half its length. Beyond the end of the road, snowcapped peaks rise over 9,000 feet from the lakeshore and thick evergreens cover the mountainsides—perfect for hiking purists. Popular attractions include Banjo Creek Farms, a real working farm with panning for gold, a petting farm, spa and body shop, wine tasting and shopping; Slidewaters, a water logged playground featuring eight waterslides, rapids, hot tub and pool, and a park and volleyball courts; Tsillan Cellars, one the area's many fine wineries, featuring a fine selection of red, white and dessert wines, and; Lady of the Lake tours, extending 55 miles into the heart of the Cascade Mountain Range.
